Observing Conditions

The Observing Conditions Panel is accessible from Gear tab.
 
 
Click on the Obs Conditions button to open/close Observing Conditions Panel from where is possible to monitor/use the data form ASCOM compatible Observing Conditions devices.
 
When there is active connection there will be asterisk in the Obs Conditions button name in Gear Tab. Note that closing the panel window does not disconnect the device. You can open and close the panel as many times as you need in order to keep the interface clean without worrying about the connection to the device.
 
The interface of of this panel is dynamic and depends on the sensors available..
 
The Observing Conditions can provide data for various features of APT:

Connect / Disconnect

1.  Connect / Disconnect
 
When you connect a Observing Conditions for the first time you will be asked to select the connection parameters by the standard ASCOM dialog. APT will remember your selection and when you click again on the “Connect” button it will use the previous settings automatically. If you want to change the connection parameters, use “Shift+Click” on the Connect button. Use Ctrl+Click to forget the selected connection parameters.

Opens the settings dialog of the ASCOM driver. If this action is not supported by the driver, use Shift+Click on Connect button and then click Properties in the driver selector dialog box.

Sensor Name/Value

3. Sensor Name/Value
 
Shows the sensor name and value. Selecting the radio button will show the gathered data graph in the Data Graph section
 
If there is no other external weather sensors and such are available in the connected device, Temperature, Humidity, DewPoint will be used as data source in the Main Screen and Session Craft temperature triggers ( refocusing and temperature compensation)
 
If the  is no other external weather sensor and such is available, the Sky Quality value will be populated in Sky Quality Calculator and also will be used for string in the FITS header and the Database.

Data Graph

4. Data Graph
 
Shows the graph of the data for the selected sensor. Moving the mouse over the graph shows the exact value and the time it has been recorded.

Auto Connect

When checked, on every start APT, it will try to restore the connection to the selected device.
