Click on the Dome button to open/close Dome Panel from where is possible to control ASCOM compatible Domes or observatories with automated roofs.
When there is active connection there will be asterisk in the Dome button name in Gear Tab. Note that closing the panel window does not disconnect the device. You can open and close the panel as many times as you need in order to keep the interface clean without worrying about the connection to the device.
Here is how Dome panel looks like:
If you have dome you can use the ASCOM Dome Control which is part of the ASCOM platform. It will synchronize the telescope and the dome in order to keep the shutter opening to be in front of the telescope.
There is need to follow steps:
Use Shift+Click on Connect button in Dome Panel.
Select ASCOM Dome Control and click Properties
Click on Setup button
Click Select Dome and select the ASCOM driver for your Dome/Obeservarory
Click Select Scope and select the ASCOM driver for your mount/telescope
Enter the following parameters for your location and dome in order the driver to calculate correctly the shutter position
7. In Gear tab use Shift+Click on Connect and select ASCOM Dome Control as mount driver. For best results select the same driver in your planetarium application and in PHD2.
All these step are "one time". In the next imaging session just click on Connect buttons.
Connect / Disconnect
When you connect a Dome/Roof for the first time you will be asked to select the connection parameters by the standard ASCOM dialog. APT will remember your selection and when you click again on the “Connect” button it will use the previous settings automatically. If you want to change the connection parameters, use “Shift+Click” on the Connect button. Use Ctrl+Click to forget the selected connection parameters.
Opens the settings dialog of the ASCOM driver. If this action is not supported by the driver, use Shift+Click on Connect button and then click Properties in the driver selector dialog box.
Moves the Dome with fixed step "<" and ">" moves the Dome with one degree, "<<" and ">>" with 10 degrees. The Stop button will abort a running move operation.
